{ Field Day }

Field Day at the end of the school year has become a long time tradition it seems. The kids when in elementary school spend a whole day playing fun outside games, getting wet, avoiding the heat that seems to sneak up on us that time of year, and have picnics with their classmates. With three girls all at the same school, I wandered around quickly from one of their classes to the next watching them play silly games and having fun with their friends. Abby’s teacher was so cute-she knew that I had a few kids to catch so she let Abby come to the front of the line for some of the games so I wouldn’t miss seeing her play.

Brooke with her 4th grade friends. They got to be with all the big kids on the other side of the school, and when I went to find them they were all playing these hand slap games. I’m sure there is a more technical term for them, but they are the fun ones when you say a little rhyme and clap and slap your hands around. It was funny to me that some of the rhymes still haven’t changed from when I was in grade school.

Instead of the “little kid games”, the older grade kids got to participate in an obstacle course that was set up on the big kids playground area. I love that even though these kids try to act so grown up at times, they is still enough kid in them to enjoy playing around on a playground. Brooke doesn’t talk a lot about her friends at school, so it was pretty fun to watch her interact with the other kids from the sideline. She has such a cute personality!
